Cornish gulls

Superb photos of two of the species of gull on offer in Cornwall at the moment by Joe Ray - one of two first-winter Ring-billed Gulls at Helston boating lake and one of the first-winter Iceland Gulls in Newlyn harbour.

King Eider, Earlsferry, Fife, 31st January 2009

Tristan Reid's photos of the 2nd-winter drake King Eider currently resident off Kincraig Point at the far east end of Largo Bay, and usually viewable from the 11th tee of the nearby golf course.

A 1st-winter drake bird was reported from nearby Leven in December 2007, but before that Largo Bay was graced each winter from 1994-2004 by the female often seen off Methil Power Station, affectionately known as "Queenie".
