Ross's Gull in Lancs

Ross's Gulls are always stunning birds and a cooperative bird, like this adult at Lytham St.Anne's, is always worth a look. The bird has been showing well at close range along the beach giving Glyn Sellors the chance to take this excellent series of shots illustrating nicely the distinctive pointed tail.

Little Crake in Devon

Although nearly annual, Little Crakes in Britain still prove extremely popular and with good reason! This smart male bird was found at Exminster Marshes RSPB on Wednesday and has continued to show well allowing some excellent photos to be taken and close views obtained. Photo by Marc Read.

Cattle Egret in Merseyside

Cattle Egrets have become almost common place in the UK this winter but they remain rare anywhere north of the M4 corridor. A new bird, or perhaps a wintering bird beginning to wander, was found this afternoon at Eccleston, just outside St. Helens on Merseyside. Photos by Stephen Menzie.
